Read 1 Corinthians 6:20
Let’s face it, sexual imagery, innuendo and motifs are everywhere, even in the cleaning goods and easy meal commercials we see on TV. My eleven year old has pointed out the influx of “romance” in the kiddie programs Hazel and Zeke (my 4 & 2 year olds) watch. Yes indeedy, they start our children off young with wrong ideology of love and sex. Which don’t equate. I’m horrified driving down Hwy 60 to Tampa because of the onslaught of strip club signage therein. I don’t want my J (the 11 year old) exposed to that stuff. It’s really frustrating because as Scripture tells us, sexual sins are against our own bodies (v. 18) and the Holy Spirit who resides there (v. 19). Indeed, each of us was bought with the price of a Savior, and His blood shed on a tree, torn apart to cleanse us. Having been a woman of deep sexual immorality, I am hugely moved by the fact He loved me anyway knowing full well how messed up I’d become. But, on top of that, I know how awful that life is, how unbearable the weight of guilt and shame and self-loathing and I so don’t want my children to traverse those roads. I pray that He’ll give them keeping testimonies and not returning ones. I want them to know He paid a King’s ransom to love them. He paid it for you too!
Father, make us pure and enable us to desire that continued purity. We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
