Read 2 Corinthians 5:2-4
What powerful imagery here and while I am thrilled to leave this mortal body, absence here is present with God (2 Corinthians 5:8), something in these verses saddens me. Please go back and take note of verse 3. When eternity arrives it appears we’ll find ourselves in one of two conditions: clothed in righteousness that comes from salvation in Christ alone, or naked exposing every ounce of vile sin within our beings and the lives we lived.
When Paul writes this it seems the insinuation is that some who think they’ll be clad in Christ will actually be bare. I see then the dreaded conversation that will ensue. You know, the-depart-from-me one we’ve been warned about. Do not kid yourself, God will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7) and He can’t be bribed. Either you know, and are known by, Him or you’ll be dismissed for all eternity. Please, friends, if you’ve even the slightest doubt about your eternal destination, fall down on your face now and get right with the Savior of your soul so you will receive the ring and a robe destined for those who love Him.
Oh Father, send conviction upon our hearts that we might seek You and love You with every ounce of our beings. Thank You for Jesus! Amen!
